My entertainment blog gets a new look; at least for its header.

If you have not visited my website Showbiz Renegade.com, you are surely missing half of your life. Just kidding.

Since I said that you are missing half your life if have not been there, I pretty sure that you have already visited it seconds ago and, you will notice that it has a new header. The header makes the over-al l look of the blog looks better.

When I started out this site, it does not have any header logo or design; plain gray background, making it quite boring and it looks like a splog.

I wanted it to have a great header; something that is simple yet elegant. A header that will tell the readers about the blog but something that will not overpower the whole site and take away the attention of visitors from the content.

And while I was contemplating on how to do it knowing my very little knowledge in web designing, lo’ and behold, my blogging buddy Fedhz offered to do the header for free, aside from giving me also a free taste of her heavenly polvoron.

The header was made by One Day Graphics according to Fedhz. My only instruction to her: a header which is simple yet elegant.

Viola, days after, I received four sets of header designs, wow! And I loved all four designs!

The new header has given my blog a fresh look and more importantly a brand; imperative for all blogs I guess.

My thanks also to Jhong Medina for helping me out with coming up with a solid black background to make the header blend with the logo design.

So if you also need some tweaking on your blogs, approach these two bloggers and they will assist you all throughout.

Now, it seems that this post urges me to write about the importance of coming up with a blog header as my next post.

My New Year’s Blogging Resolutions

Happy New Year!

Wow, it has been a while since the last time I posted something on this blog. More than three weeks of no new post here seems like eternity to me.

The problem with getting lazy making a blog post I discovered is that laziness feeds itself: the more I feel lazy writing here, the longer and stronger it gets.

This blog still receives quite a good traffic despite not posting anything; but not too well for those who want to earn from their online milking cow.

I guess this boils down to making my New Year’s blogging resolution.

Before writing this, I was searching of whoever invented or started (whatever you call it), the making of a New Year’s resolution. I found none. And I am pretty sure, whoever he or she is, he or she has not fulfilled his or her own set of annual resolutions. Sounds like justifying my own failures, hehe…

Going back.

Here are some of my New Year’s resolutions for 2011 as a blogger.

1. I will try to improve my writing. During 2010 and as of this writing, with humility, I discovered that my writing style sucks. So don’t follow my example.

2. I will try to post regularly on all my 4 blogs, including this one.

3. I will be more diligent and hardworking on making money online by being a monthly 4-digit earner. Or even 5, hahaha! Hmmm, the smell of moolah. And that means, going back to my NY’s resolution #2.

4. I will try to get enough sleep. (This is against numbers 2 and 3!!!)

5. Put up another online milking cow. Mooo!

6. Don’t let all the scandal videos, celebrity news and crazy antics of Kris Aquino haunt me even on my dreams.

7. And last, fulfill all the New Year’s resolutions I listed last year as a blogger.

There you go.

Once again, Happy New Year folks. Expect more regular updates here starting today.

My 5-Digit Daily Earnings from Adsense

Adsense is one of the biggest money-makers for many bloggers out there and asking how much does one earn monthly from Adsense has been one of the most usual parts of the conversation between bloggers and all those who are interested to venture into this field.

The conversation of playing around the question fielded to you of how much do you earn monthly from Adsense is usually answered on this manner: by saying how many digits is reflected on your check — just three digit folks…four digit…ah, five digit actually.

Well, earning from Adsense is not a get-rich-quick-scheme. Just like any business ventures, one needs to be patient, consistent and open-minded to learn always.

But as of this moment, this way of spoofing your friends and even making a campaign based on fraudulent claims through this site is now done, as I checked it, that the site is already down.

Too bad, I can’t flaunt anymore my 5-digit daily earnings from adsense, LOL!

Back to Blogging, Apologies and Looking for Jejebusters

Welcome back to my blog folks!

After succumbing to a blogging hiatus for weeks, Pinoy Sounding Board is back with a new look.

So first things first. Thanks to Jaypee and Jhay for helping me on the tweaking and upgrade of my blog; without them this blog of mine could have just been buried and forgotten under the gold and purple confetti from Staples Center. Man, my Boston was busted. If only Doc Rivers asked Larry Bird to play, they could have pulled it off. Enough now, next.

Second. Many people may have thought that I was so dead busy on lobbying to be one of President-elect Noynoy Aquino’s Presidential Security Guard that I could no longer afford to make a blog post here, so my sincerest apologies to all commenters and readers who were waiting for a very long time for their comments to be approved and been waiting to read a post here. Made already the necessary upgrade and tweaking of my blog, so everything is back to normal.

Third. Please bear with me as maybe you have observed that there are many messed up characters inside my blog post contents like this one on my Jejemon post:

I don’t exactly know why my blog post contained these kinds of messed up characters. Now I am crazily speculating that some jejemons got back at me, LOL!

Any idea guys what these messed up characters on my blog content are, why they are there are and how they are to be fixed? Any jejebusters to help me out? LOL!

There are two things running in my mind and as suggested to me by Jaypee: manually editing all my posts or using a plugin to change all this characters. But more than looking for a cure for this one, is the my need to know why my blog has all these crazy characters. Do you think Sarah Palin has something to do with this?

So that is it for now. Hope my blog will be in 100% great shape in the coming days, as I first fire Doc Rivers from the green squad.

Go Forth and Blog, Benedict XVI told his Priests

It is a “gift from heaven” says the Vatican.

Invoking the vow of obedience promised to him, we may soon find new bloggers in the world wide web making posts from their convents and teaching gospel truths and doctrines, or simply sharing their personal endeavors as pastors.

Pope Benedict XVIâ€™s new admonition to priests:Â Go forth and blog!

The pope shared during the celebration of the World Day of Communications about the need for his priests to use cutting-edge technologies on preaching the Gospel and engage with other religions and cultures to foster ecumenical dialogue.

The spread of multimedia communications and its rich ‘menu of options’ might make us think it sufficient simply to be present on the Webâ€¦challenged to proclaim the Gospel by employing the latest generation of audiovisual resources. Â Priests present in the world of digital communications should be less notable for their media savvy than for their priestly heart, their closeness to Christ.

Amen to that, your Holiness.

At this point of technological advancements and the use of internet as the main information and communication super highway, the pope who is also very visible in Facebook and YouTube, suggests the use of images, videos, blogs and animated applications to priests on their ministry. With most of the youth into social networks and blogging, the pope finds it a great opportunity for priests to use this new media on reflecting theological and spiritual principles and the teachings of the Church in the modern day world.

Though the Vatican is not asking for all priests to put up a blog account, what the Pope wants is for the Church to basically open up its doors to technological advancements in the field of digital communications to further its teachings on fostering a just and humane community.

Personally, this is good news.Â The old ways of priests and Church ministers on doing their pastoral work are not really working out that much now.

The Church is obviously lagging behind, with most priests and pastors still having mentalities (and personalities) dating back the colonial era; still using the pulpit and traditional ways of preaching and teaching. Â At this age, these shepherds really need to work hard on looking for their flock and not simply threaten believers into painting images of a burning furnace just to believe what they teach.

However, I must say that some priests though, before engaging on the use of the new media should first learn to open up themselves, to be more tolerant and have the spirit of openness to dialogue and diversity of views, as the blogosphere is no-no place for close-minded and self-righteous individuals.Â It is a place of dialogue, and convergence of different views.

Hopefully, this could also be discussed on the Second National Congress of the Clergy of the Philippines.

Some priests, religious and bishops are already doing this blogging platform like Fr. Felmas of SVD, Br. Arian Lopez of De La Salle Brothers and Archbishop Oscar Cruz.

Vatican spokersperson though admitted that “those who have a certain age will struggle a bit more.”

I am more excited though to see Cardinal Vidal blogging about GMA.Â Ahem.

When Farming Uproots You From Your Blogging Chores

Oh, the cow is crying â€œMoo, mooâ€!Â Time to go now and feed him with some fresh grass in order fatten his mad ass and make the whole farm happy.Â Oh, grapes, grapes, how I love those circled purple fruit!Â Have to gather them up, not to let them rot right at their branches in order to make the best wine for my best of friends.Â And of course all the veggies and fruit-bearing trees are singing merrily as the industrious farmer looks after everything with caution, love and dedicationâ€¦right from the computer screen.

Wow, sounds like the way my grandpa took his farming chores in the province Â so seriously not even my grandma and her shrieking voice could bother him.Â I myself wanted to retire on a serene and beautiful farm so long as there is an internet connection and a computer unit inside the farmhouse.

Taking farming so seriously the way Britney Spears is so damn serious of honing her craft by doing for so many times a lip-synch on her concerts is only as good as if you are a real farmer and second, if the whole universe and inter-planetary councils are not screaming out of bewilderment of what happened to Writing To Exhale and where has its â€œinfluential authorâ€ have gone for more than two weeks now.Â

I will be rude to you Bro.Â No, I will be gentle, haha.Â I canâ€™t be rude, though you were asking me to whip you hard for deserting your blog and chose to live on Farmville where many other bloggers have found another online calling.Â Call me a chicken, bok, bok, bok!Â It is just ok, I know you take care of all chicken in your farm meticulously and lovingly.Â *smiling*

To simply put it, I just want to join Mam Jena on calling out Jan to wash his hands, dress up and put away for a moment all those farming tools, gloves and farmerâ€™s hat in order to go back to blogging and strip down the post on his blogâ€™s door saying:Â â€œInfluential Blogger Feeding the Pigs, Cleaning their Poo, Donâ€™t Disturbâ€.

Anyone who does not miss Jan, his brilliant posts and engaging conversations with readers?Â Oh, I am seeing all hands in the air Bro.Â

It is your readers calling you out Bro; to take the first ride out of the farm for a moment in order to make a post and tell all billions of people in this planet and the alien bloggers from the unknown galaxies (who by the way are preparing an online inter-galactic petition to call you out) gazillion miles away of how you are doing.Â â€œI Am Doing Great!â€, that could be one great post for a start; but knowing you, you will not settle for such a lame kind of post for you always reach for the stars.Â Having problems of what to post as you confided to me?Â How about â€œHow I Milk My Online Cowsâ€ for a second post?Â LOL!

Well, I cannot point out any other more reasons to compel you to go back to blogging.Â Except that you will be soon receving the the official decision of the court rendering its judgment on your act based on existing laws and presented evidences, LOL!Â It is your blog anyway and it is you who blogs anyway, hehehe.Â Just be ready to see throngs of your readers camping out of your blogâ€™s doorstep.

I wonder how it feels to be featured at Tumblemoose, LOL!Â Moo, moo, moo!Â LOL!

Brad Pitt Writing on the Inspirational Book Project

Felt like Brad Pitt on the film Troy.

(By the way, I once asked my students of who is the main character on the film Troy and they unanimously said â€œTroy!â€.Â Forgive me guys, cannot just get this out of my head till I share it).

Since my elementary day up to high school, writing was not my cup to tea, though I was the go to guy when they needed someone to speak in front of hundred younger students for hours.Â These are the two sides of me:Â I cannot write well what I speak about best.Â I look like Brad Pitt but there also lies my secret weakness.

Writing was then like a fearful and futile exercise for someone who could not translate into words all his spoken verses.Â Here were some instances:

1.Â I got sick with raging fever when my teacher asked me to join a writing contest to represent our class.

2.Â I failed the scholarship final examinations which was an essay writing test.Â Plus, my Arabic handwriting made my score worse.Â They thought I was applying for a scholarship to become an â€œImamâ€.

3.Â When almost all of my classmates enrolled on an elective class about advance creative and technical writing, I was one of the few who enrolled on Advance Math and Integral and Differential Calculus.

I guess those are already juicy details before I got myself all too humiliated.Â But trust me, when I say I never peed on my pants during a writing contest. LOL!

Crossing the Threshold:Â Singing Another Mantra

I told myself that obviously I will never escape the curse of writing about something, for something and for someone.Â It was like someone whispering, â€œYou can run, but you cannot hideâ€.

And it became my personal resolve to overcome my fear by no other way than always have a face-to-face duel with it.

I promised myself that I will just writeâ€¦writeâ€¦and writeâ€¦and to hell with all the grammar and flawed style and very basic use of the language.Â I will just learn them along the way.Â There is no other way than to take a leap of faith unto an uncharted territory by sailing right through it.

I promised myself that when I reach the age of 25, I will get one of my writing published.

Hummm…Hummmâ€¦Hummmâ€¦That was my mantra.

The Inspirational Book by 27 Bloggers Around the World

And the cosmos never failed me.

My short story entitled â€œThe Lesson My Students Taught Meâ€ got published on the book Inspirational Thoughts and Stories of Bloggers All Over the World, the brainchild of Mam JenaIsle to continually support amateur and budding writers/bloggers.

The book is certainly a book of love, labor and creativity of 27 writers and bloggers around the world which makes it in itself an inspirational feat.

I was first all too hesitant to submit my output to Mam Jena for the same reasons I shared above; the very fact why I am on the bottom part of the list.Â But Mam Jena has that rare character of not only twisting some arms lovingly but also twisting my fate by challenging me to step up to the challenge.

Thanks Mam Jena!Â Thanks for trusting me and giving me the opportunity.

Oh, I think Iâ€™m seeing more hands!

Stop Tweeting Political Stuffs, Bro. Seriously.

I cannot really get this out of my head, just like the need to put up a high-speed internet connection at home: unless I write and share about it. Yes, another blogging issue for me if I may. Simply put it:Â Blogging rant.

Have you experienced being told to shut up on Twitter? No, this is not a direct message that is confined between the privacy of the two of you and to hell with everyone else if you both will do a fist fight or a word war.

Being told to shut up on the public timeline of Twitter and be told to twit twit twit this more worthy stuff than twitting crap?

Sounds nasty isnâ€™t it? Yes it is.

Shut Up And Twit These Stuffs Instead

It happened two weeks ago while Typhoon Ondoy was wrecking havoc on Metro Manila and on many parts of Luzon. Yes, I was tweeting during that time braving the heavy rains and some flooding near our area. Good thing I have my own rubber boat.Â What was I tweeting?

Obviously I was tweeting my posts and my thoughts and all, like â€œOh my goodness, when will this heavy rain stop?â€ and “Crocs on the Loose” and “Darn, I am so tired”…etc. Â And it is no accident for me to tweet socio-political issues and ideas nor was I just trying to piss off some very serious people out there while other Filipinos were drowning and wet and hungry and holding on to dear life. Was it like rubbing salt to bleeding wound?

Out of nowhere a stranger (a stranger in the most literal sense that made me ask myself why in the world have I followed this guy in the first place) twitted me saying: “Dude you should stop tweeting political stuffs. Tweets better used for info dissemination on typhoon right now. Seriously.”

Huwaaat??? Are you serious? Ok, I see it, you are.

I totally understand the predicament of this guy who tweeted me from somewhere. Maybe he was very very upset over what has happened with the flooding here and there and all the destruction in brought the metropolis.

But hey, you tweeted that on the public timeline. It was like it also rained on me so hard.

What to Do Someone Told You to Shut Up on Twitter

I tried to keep myself all calm and tried to re-read his message over and over again. Letter and words all in my brain. And after so many times of reading the message trying to confirm what I thought of, I still ended up thinking that he indeed crossed the border.

Here is how I handled the particular blogging issue:

1. Â Tried to re-read the message if it was indeed offending, or that he said some truth, or I was just carried away by my excitement to get back at someone who tried to tell me to shut up and twit these kinds of stuffs instead.

2.Â I asked another blogging buddy to examine the message if it was indeed offending. It is better sometimes to ask someone who is impartial to tell you of what he thinks on blogging issues. I just hope that blogging buddy I asked to assess the message was indeed impartial. *wink* And what makes this step more important is your BBFs (Blogging BestFriends) could also share some thoughts on how to easily handle these kinds of crazy stuffs.

3.Â When your blogging buddy told you his opinion it is now up to you to decide if you are to launch your warheads right to the direction of that nasty guy or just let is pass by as if nothing happened. Will you defend yourself against the accusations of this man or cut off the cheap online relationship? Or was he worth keeping?

4. As for me, I felt offended for he has no right to tell me what to say and not to say; he has no right to twit that for the whole damn world to know; and he does not know nor even read what is the content and context of my posts.Â He could have recommended on me to tweet those things that he wanted me to say on Twitter, that would have been all so fine but he choose to bullyÂ me outright.Â If I was not tweeting every second infos about the typhoon the, does that I mean I care less about the plight of our fellow Filipinos who were suffering the typhoon’s fury?

And it was the same thing that my BBF told me so I had to immediately cut short the shallow Twitter relationship. I immediately unfollowed the guy and cut off all relationships with him on other social networks. So that ended up our little online romance when he proposed to me to shut up. Hey, I am paid by speaking up.

It does not hurt anyway to unfollow people you do not really know and just makes your twitter counter bloated with uninteresting strangers. Unless this is a very close blogging buddy, I will certainly think twice of cutting off the Twitter relationship. I would rather trade barbs and show my punching power, for in the end it will just be a painful process of pruning and strengthening our friendship; than to totally cut off the friendship.

Blogging Issue Again?Â And more?

Well, blogging is a place full of issues, intrigues and nasty people. But don’t get all too afraid. The great, talented, happy and helpful people outnumber those who cannot live up what their mommas taught them during their younger years.

When confronted with blogging issues? Be calm. (Yes Bros, I now learned this rare blogging virtue). And consult other blogging buddies especially those who could be called “pros”, “veterans” or “more experienced” for their wisdom if you are uncertain on how to handle such irritating issues. Then, decide.

But certainly, never stop from blogging. There will be more of this kind of issue as you go along on your blogging endeavor; but at that time, you are alreadyÂ a “pro” by your own right.

On to you now guys. Have you experienced being told not to tweet what you are tweeting on the public timeline of Twitter and look tweet for some more worthy stuffs? How did you or would you handle such incidents and blogging issues?
