Senator Manny Villar for President and His Delusions
It is all crap for me.
But this crap is now worth millions of pesos. And only a delusional billionaire could burn his mountains of cash on showing us over and over again till we bleed our eyes something that is full of lies and grandiose claims.
There is no other billionaire in town dude I am describing but that guy named Senator Manny Villar who branded himself as the messiah of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), BFF of the youth, “the one†who helped the poor to own their homes because he was once a squatter himself, saved the poor lady from that very gross “lumuwa ang buwa†episode and the guy who looks like a road barrier with his orange outfit always flashing that “V” sign. Nixon is that you?
On the most recent surveys, Money, ooppsss, Manny Villar rather is still soaring way up high among the ranks of Presidentiables. I am just glad that election is not yet held when those surveys were conducted lest I have already tied a rope on my neck with a big boulder on the other end and thrown myself at the deepest part of the Pasig River to be eaten by ugly gigantic janitor fish.
The Manny Villar for President ads which are played over and over again in the television and radio stations are all product of a traditional political campaigning: playing it over and over again like a hypnotic mantra that even your 2 year old sibling would soon memorize and endlessly sing; a good and easy to memorize song being played in a contemporary music genre; appealing visuals and of course delusional claims that borders on claiming to have the omnipotence of the One.
For heaven’s sake let us try to unravel the truth that is being buried.
Senator Villar is not the messiah of the OFWs. As far as I know he started his political career long before he even tried to fly to other countries and brought in troubled OFWs with all the ducumentation and media frenzy around. And he started his advocacy for this so-called new generation of heroes when he was already setting his eyes up for the Presidential race. That is what you call riding on the trend. I bet he used google trends for this quick advocacy. PoOf!
Nor is he man that could understand very truly the poor for he has made the dreams of many poor families to own their homes. Hello?! Trickery. What you had was basically all business. Business = profit. You already had the cash right at your book of assets from your real estate ventures even before these people could truly call their homes their own. If you were not a cold-blooded capitalist you could have not become a billionaire. And you owe your billions from these people who are still paying their mortgages. Were you some Illac Diaz or Tony Meloto who has built GK houses and communitieys, or even a President Carter, I could have thought otherwise. Duh!
And who will ever forget the C-5 road controversy? Double entry. Road projects leading to your properties.  Overpriced selling of properties to the government.  Instant big time cash.  Thought you are omnipotent? Ha! If you could not even speak for yourself and defend yourself from all these very clear graft and corrupt practices but by asking your lapdogs to speak for you and do some nasty unbecoming remarks and attitude when cornered, then you certainly do not deserve to become the next president on 2010 or even till the end of time; for you are just obviously as on the same mold and hue with the traditional politicians this country has had.
I will not even wonder if one of these days Willie Revillame is “officially” on your party’s senatoriables or even a running-mate. Susmaryusep!
Oh, I forgot that you are topping the surveys. I will just comfort myself that election is still many months from now and that your  name at least will never be listed on my ballot on that top most space.
ST = Sipa at Tadyak! Wataaaahhhh!!! That is more realistic. So better think twice of flashing that “V” sign again Bro.
What do you think of Sen. Manny Villar as a Presidentiable? Will you vote or not vote for him? Why?

Conrado de Quiros and Mrs. Palengke Going at it
If I could even only have 1/10th of his magic as a writer, I would already be content.
But being a writer does not always give you the same powerful potion to gain friends and constant admiration over what you express on your writings; even more gain friends over your rants and musings against the rich, powerful and corrupted few. Even if he is one of the gods of Philippine journalism. Even if he is Conrado de Quiros. All the more that he is to expect being crucified the same way he mercilessly crucify those jerks at his “There’s the Rub” column at the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
And someone indeed “cried” foul! At least with a louder popular voice this time.
Soon-to-be Mrs. Palengke Korina Sanchez most recently showed what she is made of when interviewed by her co-anchor Ted Failon over their morning radio show of which she is still on-leave due to her hubby, Sen. Mar Roxas’ presidential candidacy (which is now over after giving way for Noynoy Aquino).
The meat of the matter? Mr. Conrado de Quiros’ most recent columns expressing his great dismay over so many presidentiables who are so overeager to have the presidency that makes them most unqualified for that post according to his standards. Thus, for him, after all the so many years of seeing the uncontrolled greed of public officials for power and the plundering of public wealth especially from the present occupant of the Palace, the only one that truly “deserves” the presidency is someone who does not really pine and die for it.
And the obvious: Â Noynoy Aquino is the one who truly deserves the Presidency being the only person who is not dying to become the next President of this nation; seemingly anointed by the marriage of heaven and history while the whole of cosmos has conspired since August 5 for him to deliver the change we so direly need.
That simply means that Mar Roxas, Jamby Madrigal, Manny Villar, Gilbert Teodoro, Jejomar Binay, Nicky Perlas, Bayani Fernando, Erap Estrada and others do not deserve to have the Presidency. As simple as that. Because they are overeager.
But how do we really know someone is overeager? When he goes around the country to makes himself known by the people and know all the people’s concerns at the same time? When he shows advertisements? When a politician already expressed his desire to become the next president so that the people will have the precious benefit of knowing him early on? When he tries to set up his political machinery, gather volunteers, raise funds and set up camps and quarters? But that does not necessarily follow as far as I know.
I guess de Quiros was way too simplistic or even mystical (though he said he does not believe on mystical affairs on his column today) on his understanding and qualification for someone who is alone deserving of the presidency. If you want to have it, then you should want it says an old adage.
De Quiros’ view and standard raises a few problems for me at least.
First, those politicians who are not overeager does not necessarily entail of their capacity and competence to become the next President nor of their high moral standing give us the food to eat on the table and the significant improvement on the lives of many Filipinos. As what Angela Stuart-Santiago’s opinion regarding Conrado’s pushing of Noynoy to take up the presidential race because he is the only one “deserving” the position, that change in our country “won’t happen just because you aren’t a liar, a cheat, or a thief.” Guess what, Conrado had a field day when Pres. Cory Aquino assumed the presidency lashing her decisions and policies as a President bordering on a question of competency and expressing dismay. That was the same whole sentiment of Mr. Roces who actually was the person that gathered the more than 1 million votes for Cory to run against the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos. If Noynoy wins, certainly Conrado will have lots of things to look forward to on his columns.
Second, over eagerness could also mean passion and burning zeal for something that would certainly sustain one’s work, designation or responsibility. I am quite afraid that if someone is elected to become our next President just because he is the only guy in town not wanting the position so badly, he will just become a working president on moments of ecstasy and become too lazy upon realizing that he did not want so big a responsibility in the first place.
And third, this broad unqualified standard for over eagerness could not just be simply equated to sheer political or material greed that should instantly bring us unfounded fear and dislike of some of the presidentiables.
Well, I am not overeager too for the presidential position. I guess I have to file my certificate of candidacy come November 2009.
Korina Sanchez said that Conrado de Quiros owes Mar Roxas an apology. He just shrugged this off saying:
“I have no control over how people feel about the things I write. People who ask me to apologize will have to fall in line. [Sanchez] should fall in line and take a number … I would apologize if I was wrong. This is not one of those times.â€
Now, there’s the rub.
Do you agree with Conrado de Quiros’ standard for choosing Noynoy Aquino as the one who deserves the Presidency being the only one who is not overeager for it? Do you think if elected as President, Noynoy’s being not one of those overeager for the post could bring us into some unchartered territory and problems?
Comment here and join in the discussion, I am anyway overeager to hear your opinions.

Are You Joining the Moral Revolution of Chief Justice Puno?
Why not run instead? Some people whispering on his ears.
Despite the horn for a moral revolution has already been blown in the midst of unending corruption scandals, there are still groups of people who certainly would rather want Chief Justice Reynato Puno to take on his advocacy for good governance and better nation ruled by morally upright leaders, by taking on the challenge of running for the presidency. This to say that there is no other person who could bring the long-been-needed change in this nation especially in the government with a high standard of moral values than he himself who strongly pushes for it.
But the Chief Justice has already quelled speculations and even instigations for him to take on the tedious road of the presidential race and shifted the challenge instead to each and every Filipino.
Yesterday, he led the national launch of the group that would embody and push for a moral revolution he has long been espousing.   Moral Force Movement (MMF) is currently composed of 1,000 members coming from the ranks of the studentry, civic groups, academe and volunteers. Promising itself to be at forefront especially on the ensuring a clean and honest upcoming May 2010 national elections and developing transformational leaders, it hopes address the budding problems of corruption and other ills.
But why is it that some Filipinos were too unexcited with the moral revolution compared to the buzz that the upcoming movie of John Lloyd Cruz, Luis Manzano and Vilma Santos generates?
Some camps obviously received it with cold treatment. First, because they know that their selfish interests would be jeopardize by this moral revolution and second because they know that many citizens including these greedy bastards are not too lazy to take up the challenge.   And on the latter most probably because many of us are just waiting for our “political messiah†to come on our midst, assume the position of the president of the republic and solve all the ills of this nation; and live happily ever after.
This is the same kind of sentiments that the people of Israel were cultivating inside them; that when the son of a carpenter named Jesus of Nazareth told the crowds to give to Ceasar what is Ceasar’s and give to God that which belongs to God, they started to get angry and frustrated at Him and to the preachings of “change and salvation†he so promises to bring. To make the long story short, they crucified Him, still not totally understanding the “moral revolution and salvation†he wants to give.
A big number of us are already so tired of going to the streets, protest and fight for our right for a just and better nation that we just want to have an instant leader who could cure all our problems; answers and miracles rightly served on our plate. Take a survey and I bet many would rather want to stroll on the malls! To this, Justice Puno warns us instead “not to stay neutral…and not let apathy to have the last word.†But the greatest enemy that he said we should be fighting could neither be seen on the streets nor on the government edifices, but that which whispers from within, that “is but ourselves.â€
This is a tall order knowing as the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) admittedly said on its last letter that corruption and the decay of moral values undoubtedly has already seep in through the cracks of the Filipino family.
I can totally understand therefore why a family of 10 with unemployed parents with no food at the table will just shrug off the idea of moral revolution and embrace the traditional patronage politics. Certainly many of them will just crucify this and yell to stop the preaching and bring is some bread to fill in their empty stomachs.
This clarion call challenging each and everyone of us is a hard battle to fight;Â for we will start first not to blame somebody else as many of us usually do and second, try to look at ourselves and maybe also blame ourselves for our misgivings.
Are you excited on this moral revolution movement by Chief Justice Puno? How far are you willing to take up the challenge? Will this “moral revolution” significantly bring the change we so long been waiting?

Too Cocky With The Party-List System. PoOf!
Wow! I can’t imagine that maybe one day I will be seeing our neighbor wearing a crisp barong tagalog with some bodyguards tugging him to his luxurious black SUV as he goes to work at the Lower House of Congress; while caressing his favorite cock…ooopps rooster. LOL.
Simply outrageous, out of this world non-sense.
Alyansa ng mga Sabungero recently applied for a slot as a party-list group for the upcoming 2010 elections on the Commission on Elections with the goal in mind of promoting the interest of all workers and stakeholders in the cockfighting industry.
Well they were even bragging that our very own boxing hero Manny Pacquiao is among their ranks together with some of the rich and influential businessmen and politicians, as if these litanies will add merit for them to be accredited and recognized as a legitimate “marginalized group†deserving a seat at the House of Representatives.
I don’t know why they consider themselves marginalized? Are they really living in the margin? Maybe, when they are betting. They are on the sidelines lest they get all bleeding and running for dear lives from the roosters’ sharp metal claws.
But, oh come on! Is Manny Pacquiao and all those rich cockers and patrons marginalized? My certified sabungero neighbor is even richer than many of us in the community, sometimes; but he is also most of the time poorer than many of us. Maybe that is what they call being marginalized: the unequal distribution of wealth due to seasonal tide of luck in the cockfighting industry.
Just to push some thoughts even further in the world of creative imaginings for the benefit of my soon-to-be-congressman neighbor, LOL: what kind of laws are they going to propose and sponsor in Congress in order to help the people in the cock-fighting industry gain equal rights among others? Professionalize cock-fighting by passing a law that would require all those engaged with it take a Licensure exam? Put up a special government agency to govern them named the Philippine Cockfighting Commission? Give PhilHealth cards and retirement benefits to all their roosters for medical treatment after bloody brawls? Put up a fund for scientific studies on how to breed a rooster that could fight ala-UFC superstar Lyoto Machida? What???!!
I just can’t imagine seeing this neighbor of mine having the chance to become a congressman. Of course, they will have some more decent representative/s…but just playing with the thought makes me go gaga.
“Good morning Honorable Congressman.†Wow, am I to greet him that way while he is puffing cigarette smoke to his most beloved rooster everytime I see him on my way to work? PoOf!
Then, those people working for jueting maybe should also consider filing for accreditation as a legitimate party-list? Or all those engaged in smuggling and illegal drugs? Isn’t it they are not sharing the same equal rights with the whole lot of citizenry for being persecuted by law enforcement agencies?
I am quite interested how PETA is going to react on this one cocky issue…and KFC…and Jollibee’s Chicken Joy.
I hope this Alyansa ng mga Sabungero will not reason further by saying that St. Peter supports them, so they should be accredited, LOL!
What do you think are the laws that they are going to propose in Congress in lieu of their being a “marginalized sector”? Do you think that they will be accredited come the time they are going to list St. Peter as one of their patrons? LOL. Any more suggested marginalized groups who should consider filing for the Party-Liste accredition by the Commission on Elections?

Sen. Jamby Madrigal’s Shameless Presidential Campaign At Pres. Aquino’s Funeral. Damn!
I was still somber and on a reflective state  after seeing the great outpour of love, gratitude and honor to Former President Corazon Aquino on yesterday’s historic funeral.Â
However, as I was browsing over posts and images of the funeral over Facebook and other social networking sites, I got one of the greatest shock of my life with blood rushing up to my brain. Saw this post by Ms. Joy Parohinog of Ms. Happy Feraren’s experience  of a politican taking advantage like a hayena of Mrs. Cory Aquino’s funeral. Guess who?  Sen. Jamb Madrigal who most recently announced her candidacy for the presidency shamelessly took advantage of the funeral of Mrs. Aquino to do her most stupid way of campaigning thinking that the Filipino masses are nothing but bunches of morons. Here, take our jabs and power shots Jamboy! Pray that your bracelets of beads could save you from our wrath.
Happy Feraren:Â Shame on you Jamby Madrigal!
Now that we’ve remembered, relived and recreated the spirit of ’86 let’s make sure this yellow ribbon doesn’t get tangled up in other people’s political campaigns.
Subtle electioneering IN A FUNERAL?!?! SHAME ON YOU. Do not ride on Cory’s wave to pursue your vested interest. The people who waited in the streets weren’t there to see you! The revolution doesn’t belong to you, phony politician, it belongs to the people. And what makes you think you could get away with such a dirty trick? Cory’s lasting impression of sincerity, humility and honesty is now the benchmark of what leaders are supposed to be. You think people don’t see through you? The respect we have for Cory is not something you acquire with falsity (or through endorsement from Judy Ann Santos) it is earned. How dare you pose as someone offering sympathy to the Aquino family while you think about the votes you’re going to get come election time.
As I waited for the cortege (news networks’ new favourite word) along the South Super Highway, my mom and I bought 2 yellow umbrellas from this street vendor who was also selling nuts. And then as we paid, he pulled out something from his pocket – a yellow beaded bracelet nicely packed in a small clear plastic bag. Upon handing it over to us, he said: “Eto o, bonus para sa inyo.â€Of course my mom and I were pleased and were all “awww how sweet.â€Until I actually looked at the bracelet and saw a little tag with the name and photo of Jamby Madrigal.
I called out to him and asked, “O bakit may Jamby Madrigal itong bracelet na ito†and when I looked at the vendor for an answer he had already walked away.
Maybe an hour before this incident, I saw her car passing by the growing sea of people. Window open, flashing the L sign and strangely enough, a cameraman in front filming the people. My mom started shouting “Transparencyyyy!†and then I looked at her asking if I could put up my middle finger and my mom looked at me and said I should just shout transparency, accountability or good governance. In other words “BOOOOOOOO!!!!†And then the two of us just started shouting BOO JAMBY!!!
I am utterly disgusted by you, Ms.Madrigal. And to you other filthy politicians, behave yourselves because we are all watching you, even if you’re supposedly Cory’s “favorite†mayor. Genuine democracy is People Power and everything Ninoy and Cory stood for. It also means that now, whenever there’s a phony claiming he or she is there to protect Cory’s legacy, we will be able to speak up and act with the same fearless fervour we had before.
You know sometimes I wish I could march in the government offices with a magical broom that can sweep away all the dirty politicians we have in this country. A giant clean up, but this time not just for the environment but for our government. Haha, imagine if we could really do that? I’m already writing down the names of the people I’d attack first with my magic walis!
So, before you file for candidacy (a bit too late though in this case) think again. Actually, good luck! The people have remembered.
Pardon my French they way Conrado de Quiros says it, but this one “damn shameless politician” on our midst! What was she actually thinking? I thought all the demons were already exorcised during the high mass at the Cathedral?Â
See you next elections Jamboy, we will hack you out; let us see who is the real fool between you and Filipino nation. Prepare yourself for retirement making all those beaded bracelets. Pwe!

A Tall Order From President Corazon Aquino’s Life And Death
With the death of the “most beloved and revered President†of this country, Mrs. Corazon “Cory†Aquino, floodgates of historical reawakening, emotions and gratitude opened up like well-springs of grace in the middle of dry lands.Â
I though was not so stunned with the passing of the woman who stood up to fight the Goliaths of her time and restore democracy to the very people who gave birth to it. I knew it was coming; just a matter of time for her to cross through the door of the fullness of life and freedom she has long longed for. But the outpour of public sentiments and rekindling of the life of Mrs. Aquino as if she did not pass away by the so many tales of her most ordinary heroics is in itself stunning. And with the multitude of people from all walks of life giving their final respect to Mrs. Aquino; braving the heat, rain and dust just to get a glimpse of their humble hero and offer their final words of thanks, has obviously surprisingly turned the tide of politics national life.
With her death came new life. With her passing away came the ushering of a renewed vigor of love of country and freedom that has caught the machinations of the proud off-guarded. With her closed eyes, silent lips and cold prayerful hands came the birth of public vigilance, stronger verbal opposition to corruption and abuse and a more active public display of love of democracy.
I think with Mrs. Cory Aquino’s passing, the battle that she has fought for, long before I was even born has taken a new stance and strength. Paradoxically, with her absence, came the stronger presence and echo of her cause. And the political tide has certainly started to change hues from the “darkness of greed and deceit into yellow.â€Â Here are some of my silent musings.
 1. The death of Mrs. Aquino and the revival of her “magic†I think has sent shivers down to the spines of those who have dark hearts and acts inside the government and the Palace. We can vividly remember how always fearful the “tenant of the Palace†not to let the people gather by hundreds and thousands; and they prevented these from happening by employing tactics that infringed the basic rights and freedoms of all. Now, hundreds and thousands of people are once gathering to give respect to the woman who has called Gloria-Arroyo to step down from the Presidency after the Hello Garci election scandal. I am pretty sure, images alone of people united under that one flag of freedom, democracy and moral revolution make GMA and all her lapdogs think of “hiding already under their bedsâ€.Â
2. Despite suffering from the pain of her disease, Cory Aquino still fought valiantly against the rail-roading of the House Bill that would amend the 1987 Constitution to prolong the clout to power of only a few; the very same constitution that is remembered as one of her most profound legacy. But with her death, the Malacanang Palace through its blowhorns has drastically changed gears and called on all their allies to stop the hullabaloo and withdraw their signatures.Â
Though taken away already on our midst, the Former President certainly knows how to let the truth spring up from the rubbles of lies. The recent declaration of the Palace telling its troops on the Lower House of Congress to stop the Con-Ass  as an act of respect the memory of the Former President is a big slap on their faces when they had always denied that they have nothing to do with the Con-Ass movement and that they cannot direct their allies in the Congress to stop the crap. Of course, we all know that they already perfected the art of barefaced lying and bluffing. GMA trained them.
 3.  Politicians are now starting to wear and speak in a “yellowish toneâ€. And with the tide of public sentiment and support tilting over the advocacies of Mrs. Aquino, I am certain that politicians are going to jump off borders and fences and try to affiliate themselves with the Former President. Not to forget the national election come May 2010, politicians especially the Presidentiables are surely going to surf on that tide in order to once again get elected; even maybe stabbing other allies and dropping off bombs to former political godfathers and abandoning their strong political stance on Con-Ass and act like innocent sheep on press conferences telling the public that they experienced “metanioaâ€. And will show political ads and clips with President Cory.
4. There will be elections next year; a legacy that Mrs. Aquino has certainly affirmed with her death. People will certainly not permit another abuse against democracy and freedom and the masses of people gathering these past days to give their final respect to Mrs. Aquino is only a glimpse of the millions of people who will certainly proceed to voting precincts to cast their votes. In memory of President Corazon Aquino.
5. With Cory Aquino’s death and the Filipino nation giving her their final respect beyond imagination as one of the most revered leader this country has ever had, former Presidents, the current “tenant of the Palace†and all Presidentiables have something to ponder real hard up to their sleep. Mrs. Aquino’s life and unwavering crusade to always honor freedom and democracy against violence has established a tall order among leaders and those aspiring to become the next President of this republic. Her life of simplicity, high moral standard , prayerful life and genuine service as a leader and later on as a private citizen only fortified the stark manifestation of the wide contrast between her way of service and governance to that of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s that is mired with scandals, deceit, abuse and corruption. Her kind of life and governance gained for her the respect of the nation and the world; Gloria’s pompous lifestyle, corrupt governance  and abusive leadership  gained for her the anger and curses of the whole nation and the disrespect of the world. Cory’s death immortalized her; Gloria’s life instantaneously killed her.
Goodbye dear President. In your death, you have revived the slumber of a nation and had sent the proud to their knees.  May we never be overcome only with emotion and grief.  May we never squander everything you fought for because of forgetfulness and are usual alibis. Now that you are already with the Creator to taste “real freedomâ€, whisper to His ear the cry of our nation. Goodbye.

Why Are Politicians Working Their Ass Out To Have The Presidency? I’m Asking. Poof!
I want to get straight to the point, without the usual introductions and my usual story lines:Â Why are so many presidentiables are working their ass out just to become the next President of the Philippines?
This is something that I cannot fathom when I am seeing in the television, reading in the papers and listening to the radio how difficult and complicated a President’s life is.Â
When I was small, I used to dream and act as a President on one of my playing corners. But growing up, the presidency is not as easy as a child’s fantasy and role-playing games.
Here are some reasons why you should not run for the Presidency of the republic and even more become the President:
1. Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism or PCIJ published a report  saying that Gloria Arroyo spent at least a staggering P5 billion on her 2004 presidential campaign. On line with this billions of peso figure, Presidentiable Manny Villar opined during an interview by Reuter  that someone planning to run for the presidency should have at least P1 billion on his/her pocket. Without that, presidentiables should just beg out of the race.Â
Anyone who has at least a billion-peso bank account? Kindly raise your hand. Oopsss, Manny Pacquiao raised his hand. Am I seeing Joc-Joc Bolante’s hand?
2. Becoming a President, you are only set to receive P60,000 monthly as your salary as President, smaller compared to the salary of a junior executive in the private sector. And our President is like a beggar compared to that of its US counterpart. The US President is earning 3,000% times higher than the President of the Philippines, receiving $400,000 annually. Now, this does not give me enough reason to be at the highest post of the land after spending at least P1billion on the campaign trail.
3. Being the President, you will live your 6 years with all the cameras targeting your every moves and hush. Probing eyes and professional paparazzi are surely set to trail by you when you go to hospitpal for a boob job. Plus, the usual attacks of opposition forces and activists, unruly government officials and New People’s Army (NPA), MILF and Abu Sayaff. If you can’t even handle your nagging in-laws, neighbors, pesky officemates and annoying blogging buddies, the Presidency is a no-no.
4. How about solving all the problems of the country and being blamed for failures? Have no rest on weekends and being always on-call 24/7?
5. And how about being judged by history?
Of course there are lots of other reasons that we could still enumerate here; and there are also so many reasons too why our Presidentiables are still aiming for the highest position in the land despite of everything I enumerated. But for me, I would still stick to my gun that power, prestige (and maybe, having all the means to get so rich from bribes and corruption) are not enough to convince me to aim for the Presidency.
I guess Manny Pacquiao can now run for the Presidency having billions of pesos already on his bank account eh.
What to you think are the reasons why it is a politician’s ultimate goal to become the President of the Republic? Despite all the things I enumerated, what do you thing are the rewards one gets on becoming the President of this country?
