Reaction Papers on Pres. Aquino SONA Speech
I am not really into this particular keyword, but today I have discovered into making a post on this one. I saw these keywords on two blogs who popped up on the top of search engines today on the reaction papers on SONA 2010.
Many high school and college students are surely going to make reaction papers about Pres. Aquino’s SONA speech, from their social science and political sciences classes. The SONA 2010 will surely become a seedbed of discussions in and out of classrooms.
This is a great practice for people to get involved and become critical on social issues that not only affects the government but all of us.
I am only amazed though to know that in the pluralities of ideas and opinions, sometimes there are those who would fall prey to the trap of total cynicism and political pessimism. That is to see everything on the SONA whether it may be Aquino or other President delivering it as full of lies and full of empty promises. This is the usual reaction of I guess of people who sees everything as darkness and lives inside the cave of ignorance and helplessness. Such pessimistic approach on things dismisses and ignores the capacity of people to be critical, to be vigilant.
Rather than focusing and trying to believe that our people is a just a bunch of emotionally-driven electorate and a throng of idiots who loves to believes on fairytales, I rather trust that the Filipino people are now more educated, intelligent and positive seeing more the light than curse in darkness. When on start to look down with contempt on his people, he has already started to be the very reason for his countrymen’s slavery.
I take refuge to what the great Martin Luther King Jr. said about light and darkness:
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
Goodluck to all students who will be writing their reaction papers! Be critical, but never be difficult and pessimistic.

Link bait! LOL
It would be interesting to read those reaction papers. I hope some tech-savvy teachers would publish their students’ papers online for the world to read and digest.
A lot of interesting things can be learned from the minds of young ones.

Thank’s po sa reaction about the SONA of our newly elect president, Pres. Noynoy Aquino…. Nakatulong po sa akin ng husto ito!!!
yes! I agreed what you tell.Because most of all in College School their student was publish a reaction paper for the SONA..
People hate me for being critical about the Aquino administration. It is sad that majority are blinded by these myths that the biased media network have instilled in the minds of clueless viewers.
It is worse that some tend to cover up the incompetence of the highest leader of the land.

Linkbait, LOL!
A good number of students will indeed write reactions papers, but this post is not really to provide them with what to write but maybe just to guide them on how to have the proper attitude and perspective on what they write especially after reading some available articles online.

No problem Jayvee, you are welcome.
What is always important is for one to make his own stand and be critical without being pessimistic.
Being critical is part of the dynamics of democracy, it is what democracy is all about; and it is given that there will always be people who will not agree to an idea or thought because of the plurality of ideas.
But what is important is if being critical is grounded on reality, sound logic, evidences and at the same time if it offers alternative solutions and not only pure rants.
Covering up the incompetence of Noynoy Aquino by his men or propagandists if you want to call them is part of his game, just like all leaders in the world. But with Noynoy already seated as president, what is alternative then?
Ok, this is your premise: If he is incompetent but he is the duly-elected official of this land coming from a landslide victory and credible election, what are we to do then? Unseat him? Say to the world that he is incompetent and convince people? And if the people will indeed believe that he is incompetent, then what’s next, extra-constitutional means to put a “more competent” president according to someone’s personal standard? The dialectic does not stop there.
What is more logical and practical for one nation is to be critical about its leaders but at the same time offer solutions or alternatives. At this point of time, it is by accepting him as our president, being vigilant and at the same help the government.
.-= elmot´s last blog ..Miss Universe 2010 Candidates- Contestants =-.
Then what is your solution then?

I will at least speak for myself.
Let us say that I am now convinced that Noynoy Aquino is incompetent. For me, I would not stop there. There is no perfect leader, even Obama has his own shortcomings or Churchill or Aguinaldo or Arroyo or Washington or Mandela. But what I guess is important for me is whether a person or leader is open to learn and work together with the people and not only impose his own set of principles on governance as a government is a dynamic working of the people and its leaders.
I can see that he has chosen a good number of people to help him out, I think that is something indubitable. But that does not mean that he is already wearing an invisible cloak against criticism, and since he is already the president chosen by the majority of people on a credible election, everything he says is gospel truth. I must be vigilant as a citizen yet support his projects that I deem helpful for the nation like, paying taxes, following the most basic of rules and laws and not succumbing to the temptation of corruption or being accessory to it by not reporting to the government those people that I see who abuse their power. There is no other way but support our government because this is our government and not of our leaders, but this should not be easily equated to fanaticism or blind following.
I think that is for me a more positive outlook on being critical to the government or any other leaders.
And as I said, at least for my part.

A lot of people don’t realize that the president himself is dividing the Philippines when he attacks the previous administration to cover up his incompetence.
Akala mo santo kung makapagbatikos pero pag sya ang binabatikos bawal.
The content of the SONA had so many lies.
You can view the news here:

Even his ally, Winnie Monsod noticed this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vf-QJEcG8fY
This administration is supposed to be on a reform agenda. How come they have been caught lying and misleading the people this early?”
.-= Ronald Redito´s last blog ..Pilipinas For the Win- Game Show to Replace Wowowee =-.
Excuse me…as I said, I am speaking in behalf of myself, and the moment that you said “kala mo santo kung makapagbatikos pero pag sya ang binabatikos bawal” you have already dropped the intellectual discourse to a level associated with a personal attack to me. Is this the way you do your critical analysis of things, resorting to personal attacks instead of putting more logical arguments. But instead you used the thoughts and ideas of other people like these articles you are pasting on here? Come on, come with your own to defend yourself.
I don’t even know if you are even reading my whole comment…unless you cannot even understand what these lines mean: “I must be vigilant as a citizen yet support his projects that I deem helpful for the nation” and “There is no other way but support our government because this is our government and not of our leaders, but this should not be easily equated to fanaticism or blind following”. These lines alone can make even kindergarten students understand that I never said it is wrong or even imposing a ban on assailing Pres.Aquino.
I have never said that what Pres. Aquino said during his SONA are all gospel truth attested by this line, “But that does not mean that he is already wearing an invisible cloak against criticism, and since he is already the president chosen by the majority of people on a credible election, everything he says is gospel truth” on my reply to you. I have read these articles you are sharing here even before you posted them. I have also watched Winnie Monsod’s analysis on TV; these things you are sharing are considered already by me.
Now, I have given my own solution. Let me throw the ball to you now. What is your own solution then after your personal tirade and attack to me on this discussion? Just quoting the thoughts of other people and crying out loud that the ship is sinking? Unless you have none to offer.
.-= elmot´s last blog ..Miss Universe 2010 Candidates- Contestants =-.
Let me disprove this one argument of yours: “A lot of people don’t realize that the president himself is dividing the Philippines when he attacks the previous administration to cover up his incompetence.”
What is your proof that he is dividing this nation? I am very much happy to digest one and maybe even make an article about it and post here.
But for now…then what about the 80%+ approval and trust ratings of people to Pres. Aquino that was conducted by survey firm. So a -50% approval/trust rating is uniting the nation more than the 80%+? The numbers speak for themselves I guess.
.-= elmot´s last blog ..Miss Universe 2010 Candidates- Contestants =-.
Can we not give the President some breathing space to make good on his goals and projects for the country? It’s a bit odd that we’re too eager to shoot him down for this and that shortcoming. He’s just started his term of office.
Do I dare suggest for us to be less vigilant? Of course not. But it will help us a lot if we temper our enthusiasm with reasonable expectations.

@Elmot:
I am not criticizing you, I was referring to the President when I said “Akala mo santo kung makapagbatikos pero pag sya ang binabatikos bawal.”

@Elmot: Kindly read my comment again and digest if it was directed to you. I think it is you who don’t read visitor’s comment.
You accuse me of not coming up with my own thoughts and ideas on SONA. Think again.
Please use Google search for:
“noynoy aquino sona reaction paper” and see the results
Please don’t question my intellect. That’s a personal attack on your comment dated August 4, 2010 at 2:14 PM
A point to ponder: Is this not enough proof of division the Aquino administration and the biased media supporters had created?
.-= Ronald Redito´s last blog ..Pilipinas For the Win- Game Show to Replace Wowowee =-.
I am not saying that you do not have your own ideas about the SONA, what I am saying is you are not putting your arguments here with your own ideas but tend to put the thoughts of others.
If this discussion between two persons is already enough proof for you that Noynoy is indeed dividing the nation, then that argument finds wanting. Because this discussion of plurality of ideas does not necessarily reflect that of the whole of the nation. Case in point: plurality of ideas does not necessarily mean it divides the nation the same way you are thinking it to be. Saying that “the president himself is dividing the Philippines when he attacks the previous administration to cover up his incompetence” is something that needs to be proven yet has already been disproved as quick as it has been presented by recent surveys.
The ball now is in your hands, you asked me my solution…and I have asked what is yours. Any solution then? This would surely make our discussion more flavorful.

It seems you are unaware as to who own these survey firms? Please do your research and find alternative sources of information, not just your obvious biased sources.
.-= Ronald Redito´s last blog ..Pilipinas For the Win- Game Show to Replace Wowowee =-.
This seems to be a futile discussion already for even survey firms that may one or another tell us of the sentiments of the public is never acceptable to you though the results of their surveys has approximated the outcome of many democratic exercises in the past.
Let me ask you then: any official, credible and recognized survey from what you call are not coming from the mainstream that you can present to hopefully fortify you argument.
Second and I will ask you again: you have asked my solution, how about your own set of solution to offer?
If again, there is none, it has become obvious that this is a futile discussion of a boy who cried wolf.
.-= elmot´s last blog ..Jennifer Hudson Weight Loss- Photo =-.
There’s no sense arguing as you don’t get the point. =)
.-= Ronald Redito´s last blog ..Pilipinas For the Win- Game Show to Replace Wowowee =-.
Indeed, there is no sense arguing with a person who cannot present hard facts and pieces evidence to back up his arguments and more importantly arguing with a person who dares ask his counterpart for solution yet cannot present his own.

Hmm, it’s curious really. It seems that this is really a fight for the No 1 spot on the Google SERP for the phrase “noynoy aquino reaction paper.”
The only gripes Ronald seems to have is that mainstream media, which he has mistaken ABS-CBN for is biased for Noynoy Aquino.
Though this is true, ABS-CBN has been biased in favor of Aquino since the presidential campaign, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Aquino is indeed incompetent.
There are other mainstream media outfits which are critical of Aquino. So one cannot claim that “mainstream media” is totally biased in favor of the President because ABS-CBN, ANC and even to a certain extent the PDI, are not mainstream media itself even though they are big players.
Branding Aquino’s SONA as nothing but mere propaganda is like saying that the other SONA’s of past Presidents were not. Which is untrue, because everything an Administration and its media/communications group says to the media is propaganda. Every student of political science knows this. So what’s the use of crying foul about it?
Criticisms like these are shallow and easy to pull off. What’s more interesting and worth pondering on are the criticisms of the President’s policies and programs instead of crying foul over how he conducts his official business.
Offer deconstructions of Aquino’s policies, programs and projects. Offer alternative solutions or alternative analyses, then we’re talking. Then again, real literature/content that is the product of an intellect trained in political science is hard to promote through SEO, I know, because I’ve been doing it for years!
So what’s the next best thing? Take the short-cut and build content on what’s already out there in the internet. No need to expend a lot of neurons and the ROI is a lot more handsome.

What?! The show is over?
Wasn’t it just last year when you dutifully replied to every commenter in your blog, including those comments left by spammers? Remember?
Of course, Ronald is hardly that. He’s…he’s an earnest reader with firm political views. Of course, I’d been sorely tempted to suggest he stick them some place else, but it’s disrespectful. That might betray lack of imagination and paucity in vocabulary. I’d have none of that.
You owe him, Elmot. He made you more productive with your time: sending you to Google to check some keywords, asking you to check your sources yet again, and gifting you with useful links for your perusal. Very few readers do that these days. He’s the man!
It will take a while before you get your undies in a bunch again, I suppose.
yes! I really agree you mam that person just insulting your personal insight! maybe he is just pretending his thoughts; pretending for being an intellectual. Well for I myself will not be a cynical for the rest of my life! I would rather be more optimistic!
Thanks for the affirmation PJ. Indeed, optimism is still the heart of any society that wants to succeed against all odds and tyranny.
