Quezon Gov: No More Surfing the Net in the Office

Surf no more lest we work in the darkness.

This is the situation that the province of Quezon is facing.  Governor David Suarez immediately took action and ordered the employees of the Quezon provincial government not to surf the internet in order not to add to the unpaid electricity bill that has already ballooned to P20 million.

More than the use of social networking sites and research on the internet that will disrupt the output and focus of his employees is the fact that the provincial government may soon working in darkness if Governor Suarez is not to take any drastic action.

The provincial government of Quezon has not paid its electricity bill since 2006 and has already reached P20 million.  They are now negotiating with Meralco as they have already received a disconnection notice.

“Be professional in the performance of your duties. No more Facebook, Yahoo or Twitters in the office computers. It is against civil service regulation.”

This is not the first time that government offices and agencies are reported to have not paid their utility bills.  The Philippine National Police, National Capital Region has not also paid their electricity bill for years that now amounts more than P100 million pesos.

Any thoughts about government offices and agencies that did not fulfill their obligations and then drastically cut services in order to save?

Better late than never. What the government should do instead to take back control of the power industry so that it wouldn’t be at the mercy of Meralco.

This would also help control the costs of power in the country.

That’s ridiculous. Even an ordinary housewife knows the importance of setting aside money to pay for utilities.
Kasalanan ba ng employees kung social media savvy sila?

Dreary office life pag nagkataon. Ano na lang pag uusapan sa office – anong numero tumama sa jueteng? Saan outlet may bagong dating na supplies ng ukay-ukay? Ay sus.

If the issue is employee productivity, I guess they should just block social network sites. The internet actually increase employee productivity in so many ways. If the sole reason, by banning internet surfing, is to save on electricity – that is totally absurd!
Employee productivity and electricity bills are two different things.

Precisely bro!

They got too lazy with their obligations then they make their employees suffer as if the employees are the one who caused the government’s utility bills to balloon.

Hindi jueteng pinag-uusapan sa office bro, hiwalayang Kris and James Yap daw, LOL!

Precisely Yodz! Not paying the electricity bill is because of irresponsibility of the local government official…employee productivity is hampered by stupid local government official who blames the use of internet and links it to being unprofessional.
