The King wants to have a real crown and so he joined other superstars of NBA in order to seal his spot along the hall of “real basketball legends”.

LeBron James announced last week that he had left his team Cleveland Cavaliers and joined Miami Heat together with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in order to at last win a championship in the NBA.  James was on a free agent status starting July 1.

This decision that was broadcast on a one-hour TV special by ESPN however elicited different comments ranging from positive ones to vehement opinions starting from the Cav’s camp shouting “traitor”.  Other NBA teams are also questioning Miami for having three NBA superstars under its wings in relation to imposed salary caps, though NBA Commissioner David Stern said the deal was clean.

NBA Legend Charles Barkley also expressed his dismay about LeBron’s decision saying that King James should have shown propriety to his former team before he even disclosed his decision to move to Florida.  Barkley thinks that everything was already planned and decided that makes the TV special “disturbing”.

“I had a couple of problems about the special.  Thank God I was in Canada and didn’t have to watch it, I thought that was stupid.”

With James, Wade and Bosh in Miami, it seems that it is already the strongest team out there, but looking at it having so many superstars, it may also have its inherent downside. Miami is now a scoring machine no doubt with its line-up, but that could also cause confusion if they won’t find a great point guard who will distribute the ball real well and call plays for all its superstars.  And yes, they may be fast and furious but up to now they are still lacking a powerful inside presence to take care of the paint compared to LA’s agile big men Gasol, Bynum and Odom.  Miami has Haslem, Ilgauskas, Anthony and Varnado.

A great note is that reigning NBA champ Los Angeles is very much passionate to rally next season in order to have three-straight championship crowns and their championship line up is still complete.  Coach Phil Jackson decided not to call it quits yet while Kobe Bryant wants to crown even more; which easily makes them the team to beat.

So while King James wants to have a crown at all cost, Kobe Bryant and the Lakers is still a very formidable and complete team making it still the favorite for next NBA season.  Next season will certainly be an explosive one on and off-court.

Time to pass the ball to you.

What is your thought of LeBron James joining Miami Heat?  What NBA team/s are you rooting for next season?

Shoot your comments folks. :D
