Manny Villar is a big fat presidential liar.
By now, many of us had already memorized some of his campaign jingles though we despise them; only by the sheer fact that we cannot escape the constant bombardment of these songs like the combined Allied Forces trying to recapture the Pacific from the Japanese Imperial Army, that we lay dead and permissive.
But the truth has now come up; the gold had shine from the rock. The truth about the death of his younger brother Danny that he is using on his political advertisements no lay wide open.
The truth about the death of Danny that Manny Villar lied to us in a nutshell:
William Esposo wrote a comprehensive article about this one; the uncovering of the ugly truth infested with maggots inside the billions of pesos that Manny Villar is pouring on TV and radio advertisements.
Villar says: “Nakaranas na ba kayong … mamatayan ng kapatid dahil wala kang pera pangpagamot (Have you experienced losing a brother because you did not have the money to provide him proper medical care)?
But the truth is that Danny Villar died of leukemia at the FEU Hospital in 1962 for which he was confined for 13 days and people with such kind of disease will really succumb to death during that period as there were not many medical remedies for that disease available. FEU was one of the top hospitals that time. Danny’s remains were then turned over to Funeraria Paz, an obviously expensive mortuary.
Villar’s family owned a property on San Rafael Village, a middle-class area that will tell us that his family should have a sizeable income in order to buy such a property; a far cry to what he is saying. And by the way, Manny Villar studied on private schools.
My thoughts:
- Villar is a big liar really and we have known this from the start, that not even his billions can hide the stench of his lies. While he was assailing Noynoy Aquino to be just riding on the “legacy” of his parents Ninoy and Cory, Villar on the other hand capitalized and we may even say disrespectfully used the sad state and misery of his brother Danny to further his personal ambitions. Here we see the stark difference between the Noynoy and Manny; the light from the shadow.
- Villar must have been hallucinating to say “Nakaranas na ba kayong … mamatayan ng kapatid dahil wala kang pera pangpagamot (Have you experienced losing a brother because you did not have the money to provide him proper medical care)? and think that this will sway the Filipinos to his side and won for him a seat in the Palace. Why? Because this is not and is never a Filipino trait; to let your love ones die in your arms without doing anything. Most Filipinos even try to commit the nastiest of crimes just for the sake of the welfare of their families. Villar undermines then the capacity of the Filipino intellect by trying to paint and sway an atmosphere of empathy for him while forgetting that “helplessness” and doing nothing for one’s family more so is never a character of the Filipino people.
- If Villar can utilize the misery and sad fate of his brother Danny and paint lies just for the sake of political ambitions, how much more can he do towards the Filipino nation? With the family as the fortress of our character and the source of existence, at least for the Filipino society, how can a man use the sad death of his brother for his political ambition? And how much can he do to further his clout to power towards total strangers leaves a great room for one’s imagination.
- While Gloria Arroyo is always all out to protect her kin and always further their welfare to the expense of the nation, Manny Villar does have the guts to use his family for his personal goals and political survival on a highly-contested presidential race. Let me leave that for you to ponder on.
- In the spirit of Lent, I remembered that not all that calls God are true believers and followers of God. And so, not all those who say they are poor really came from poverty and had experienced poverty.
What can you say about this article on Manny Villar faking his political advertisement regarding the death of his brother Danny and using it for his political campaign?

One word: balasubas.
May English equivalent ba un? Meron siguro, pero parang walang dating. Kaya balasubas na lang. Un na un.

Hehehehe!
Last night he was interviewed and he said that the point is he still came from poverty and lived the first 10 years of his life with really almost nothing to eat…
He missed the point or just deliberately tried to maneuvered away from the issue. The issue raised is not during the time before his brother died, but about the death of his brother being used by his campaign.
Kapal muks , LOL!

Let us say Villar indeed used his brother’s death to convince voters to get sentiments, for me it’s his prerogative and it is his right, it is his brother and only his family can question on his actions if it’s true or not.
Villar did not question the free support of many showbiz personality for Noynoy or ABS-CBN for that matter, knowing the fact that Cory Aquino helped raise ABS-CBN back to life from many years of non- existence.
Villar used up his own money to compete with that but never complain or make an issue out of it.
Question in the area of fairness and equality of ABS-CBN,did this network release any news about Noynoy’s excessive vice in smoking? Or of Noynoy’s medical condition when he was young, I don’t have to expound on this, I know that you know it. Did Villar make an issue out of it? Nope! Why? Because it’s a conduct unbecoming of a gentlemen to raise a personal issue that is below the belt.
As a marketing man,I was trained to promote my product professionally and not to comment negatively to a competing product because it is a mortal sin for us since we are professionals and we should dwell more instead on our products advantage.
My point is, as a registered voter, let us not be subjective, but be objective in voting.
Anybody can win the presidency, but the question is, can he run a country?
With that note let me end by saying frankly, the Liberal Party chose Noynoy Aquino to run for the presidency instead of Mar Roxas for the main purpose of winning, but as an objective person, NOYNOY AQUINO cannot run a country, I prefer MANNY VILLAR, Why? If he made himself a somebody from a nobody, I firmly believe he can also improve our country.

Thanks for the comment Leonardo.
Anyways, I guess you missed some of the more important points I shared as the this not all about the question of competence or sole prerogative of Mr. Villar to use the death of his brother Danny for political ends.
More than competence and that right to use the fate of one’s kin is a question of character and truth of the person who is peddling it. It does not mean that since Danny is your brother, you can peddle his sad fate for your campaign painting a totally different story that he died because your family was helpless just to get the sympathy of the “masa”. Character is more important here, and our country have had so much of intelligent and competent people but they all did not exhibit a true character… Villar in this case had utilized the misery and even the death of a soul to get into a position of power.
That is the difference between the two: Villar used the misery or sad fate of his brother to further his own political agenda while Noynoy used the legacy of his parents. Between the two, I personally would see Villar’s tactic as the one unbecoming of a true gentleman and a caring brother.
Second…even those in the PR industry and in the advertising world has shared their thoughts without particular bias to any candidates that the truth is primordial on promoting a product; and they even sanction ads that give messianic claims as they screen these ads if these are really telling the truth or just giving false promises. Going back to Villar; unfortunately, the same strict rules on advertising do not exist on political ads. We may see what the LP and other people who unveiled this thing on media to be giving the public the chance of knowing the truth against false claims and not as you say to be engaging on negative attacks. And to promote professionally is to promote truthfully. I don’t know when has saying the truth already is now known as negative attack or character assassination.
Lastly, it indeed seems to be the tactic of LP to choose Noynoy than Roxas. Well that is their strategy and they have to live with it; it could either deliver them the goods or have to accept lose. As with NP, they accepted Legarda perceived to be a political butterfly, and they have to live with it.
As for me, I am not just looking for intelligent candidates or competent candidates. It is wrong to say that Noynoy or the other candidates are not competent and only Villar is. All of them are competent, but we must admit they will never be good at everything as we expect them to be, but certainly they are good at something. But has been shared by me, competence and intelligence are not enough to revive this country from moral decay; as financial and all other illness came from the loss of moral compass of leaders. What is also needed is a man of character, of values, who will choose what is right from wrong and not repeat the mistakes of the past.
Thanks for the comment, really appreciate it.

You’re just dodging the issue by bringing up criticisms against Noynoy Aquino because you cannot deny that Manny Villar has lied big time to the Filipino people.
You may be right that the death of his brother is a family affair but the moment Villar used in it in his campaign ads, to which the public was made privy to it, the issue has become a public issue.
Using his brother’s death and spinning it into a fake story for his marketing/campaign goals only affirms how the businessman mindset, which includes being a marketing professional, can be so unethical, so disrespectful of the values we Filipinos hold dear, like respect for the memories of our lost loved ones. Villar has shown he is willing to soil the good memory of his brother just to win the presidency, something so similar of GMA.
You’re calling on us registered voters to be objective, nothing can be more objective than finding out the truth behind what the candidates are saying in their ads.
Sadly for you, Manny Villar has been found to be a liar. Again, one of the hallmark traits of GMA. So what if Noynoy had some medical condition, it’s not his fault for he was born with, the same way you cannot be faulted for being born with brown eyes.
But Manny Villar’s actions, his choice of making a lie out of his brother’s death, was a conscious choice, he could’ve have not pursued if he had the right conscience.

Thanks for sharing this. Ipapabasa ko sa kapitbahay kong fans ni Villar.

I object to Villar’s statement that “ask any gov’t officials today is they are rich.” It’s saying poverty is a matter of perception. Poverty is a reality; poverty is “lack of access.” The fact that your father has a job, was able to secure a loan,, that your mother is a fish vendor, that your 9 siblings studied in PRIVATE schools, means you have access.

Poverty is a sad painful reality, anyone who says it is just a perception is certainly out of his mind and deserves to be sent to a mental institution to be treated from schizophrenia.

Yes, there is a chance that Manny Villar is just a liar and is just using his brother and his mother for his own benefit. But William Esposo is not a credible source of any information for this elections because of his obvious and known bias for the candidacy of Noynoy Aquino. Let’s not take his article as the truth. He can be one of the propagandist of the yellow camp. But, yes, there is a chance. But recent inquirer articles with Villar’s reactions contradict these statements of Esposo. This has to be counter-checked. A fact check should be done. What is written in the papers should not be considered as the Bible especially if it’s William Esposo.

It was first my concern that maybe Esposo was just doing something to topple down Villar for the LP camp’s benefit, but Winnie Monsod had also presented this issue on her show at QTV.
They may be both seen as LP supporters but I guess the documents especially the death certificate plus the interview they did on the community where Villar’s family transferred could already dispel some doubts as to the veracity of the article and it being tainted with political bias of the author.
