Pag-Ibig Membership ID Card: A Testament to Cost-Cutting Measures?
I have received at last my Pag-Ibig (Home Mutual Development Fund) Membership Card or ID a few days ago. And I was so surprised to almost asking if it was indeed my Pag-Ibig ID or was it just a bogus photocopied or printed material given to us by scammers?
Take a look at my scanned ID on top. See? It is all black and white, almost the same as any printed black and white ID customized on your personal computer.
Instructions with the Pag-Ibig Card: cut the rectangular black and white-shaped ID, sign on top of your name and laminate it yourself. Yes, laminate it yourself!
Has the Pag-ibig Fund coffer already dried up competing with the El Niño phenomenon that what it needs is also to sound the siren for a “state of calamity†with this kind of ID they are giving their members who are paying dutifully every month their due? Or the hundreds of millions that Vice-President Noli De Castro spent on TV and radio ads before lays testament to the fact that this government agency is doing some cost-cutting measures? They spent too big of an amount on those advertisements and now short-change its members.
Now my concern here is also not only about the quality of the cards, but also the security that this card could offer. Why? These cards could obviously be easily copied, mass produced, faked and used by scammers to the expense of other members with good standing. What if one day, some us will just wake up with mortgage obligations tucked on our belts without us applying for it or benefiting on it.
If today, many government agencies like the Department of Foreign Affairs are upgrading the security features of government-issued identification documents, Pag-Ibig Fund on the other hand had gone Jurassic.
Indeed, the song rightly puts it in this concern, “Where is the love (Pag-Ibig), where is the love (Pag-Ibig)?â€

Most government issued IDS (except SSS, Driver’s License, etc.) are mere cardboard cutouts. Even my employee ID is a cardboard cutout. But I don’t mind. I also do not laminate my IDs. I don’t like IDs made from PVC. They’re hazardous for the environment.

well, I haven’t applied for my Pag-Ibig ID. When I went to their branch, the security personnel told me that they never issue ID’s. Hayz! I don’t know what the hell is happening to our government offices. Tsk tsk!

Wow, ang ganda ng ID mo ah, pahiram naman, gagawa ako ng ID ko, LOL!
Vintage yan saka made from recycled paper so tago mo lang para classic. Ganyan din yung BIR ID ko laminate-it-yourself.

Hehehhe, cardboard cut outs nga, pero eto talaga black and white and it is just so easy to make these kinds of government-issued IDs, maski sa PC ko siguro I can make one, ehehhe!

Somehow, I myself find the inconvenience of such an endeavor but I can’t help but to think that corruption cases are very viable answers to why is such an anomaly is happening within our governmental institution and offices. Pretty makes sense after big contracts of commercialization that almost they zero up in their finances.

Iniisip ko nga eh baka 30 years from now kapag na-auction itong ID ko eh maging millions of pesos na ang halaga, LOL!
Actually, ang company namin ang nag-asikaso coz I just found the ID one day on my office table.

are they still issuing Pagibig ID cards? how do get one?
Pls advice, almost 2 yrs nakong pagibig member til now diko pa narerecieve and Pagibig ID ko, im working in singapore everytimena pupunta ako sa local gov na pinagoprnan ko ng pagibig member ko lagi nalngcnasabi na wla paraw silang narereceived na mga id na padala galing pinas, im worried bka ung mga na ihulog ko na pera sa pagibig ay baka mawala lng eh ang mga binibigay nila temporary number. pls advice pano ba macheck kung napapasok lahat ng pera na naihuhulog ko sa pagibig bka mamaya magkaroon ng problema kung iwiwithdraw ko na ang mga naihulog ko at alam ko pwedeng iwithdraw ang perang naihulog after 5 to 10 years.
