A dead man in the U.S. was still receiving bills from Verizon up to February 2010 despite his demise on June 2009.
Deceased Bill Young, through his daughter Cynthia Lacy went to Verizon to report the problem and presented the death certificate of his father.
Unfortunately, a Verizon representative had not granted her request to cut off the bill as she does not know the PIN (Personal Identification Number) of his father that already went with him unto the grave.
Cynthia complained about the problem with Verizon through the column of St. Petersburg Times and only then that the company corrected the error. The company has also reprimanded the person who handled Young’s case and has been given proper coaching. Lucy was also refunded the amount that was erroneously charged of her father’s account.
This made me remember the case of Cebu Pacific Air with their flight attendants not letting a child with disability board the plane on a Hong Kong-Manila flight saying that the manual prohibits them from permitting people with “mental abnormalities” to join the flight.
How ridiculous sometimes people can get. An unfortunate effect maybe of the dry spell?

It’s not the effect of the dry spell, it’s corporate greed.

And because of corporate greed, their sense of propriety, values and justice has gone dry.
