I must admit here, that up to now no one among the presidentiables has yet captured my heart (or more precisely my vote). I do already have though some standard or perceived qualities of a presidentiable that I am looking for, to guide me on whom to eventually vote.
So with the use Facebook (which I have been loving lately, no, not because of Farmville), I made a quick online interview of known bloggers and friends one late night. Good thing, these people are nocturnal creatures on FB.
I thought that their views could at least give us the idea and hear some sentiments of bloggers regarding our aspiring presidential candidates more than the usual exchange of RTs on Twitter and commenting on each other’s tweets; and the upcoming national elections.
I asked them this question: What are those qualities of a presidentiable that would make you vote for him?
Carlos Celdran carlosceldran.com
Vision, strength and independence from sycophants and sipsips. Someone good with the military and thinks on his own. Too many advisers scare me. I want one man one plan but then its already obvious I’m rooting for Teodoro.
Kevin Ray Chua kevinraychua.com
I’m looking for honesty, integrity and reform-minded [presidentiable].
Tyrone Solee themillionaireacts.com
Actually, I read about a blog post before about Miriam Defensor’s credentials and I really salute her. Talagang bow ako sa kanya but sa palagay ko we need a leader who is unselfish; a true leader serves.
Tonyo Cruz tonyocruz.com
I want our country to have a great president who has a track record, a practical program and commitment to lead our people. We have too many great problems. A good president may not be enough. We have too many great problems. A good president may not be enough. Honestly, wala pa akong mapili. Out of my choices na sina Teodoro, Estrada.
Join in the little online survey. How about you folks, what are the qualities that you are looking for a presidential candidate that will make you write his name on your ballot come May 2010 national polls?

Willing at least to recognize that the USA is not our friend.

Thanks for the comment Cleve.
I think it is just ok to recognize the US as a friend, what is crucial though is when the US is already meddling on the internal affairs of the country, and the president is permitting it to happen.

With the history of US as an imperalist and ultra-fascist nation, I think it will be safe na to recognize as an enemy rather than just a neutral nation. And with the present condition (being realistic), they will be meddling with our affairs forever and they will control us economically and politically. We need not wait for that to happen.

I’m looking for someone who has not only a doable program of government that will address our main problems but someone who can inspire and motivate us to work with him in solving our problems.
He doesn’t have to be a saint nor someone who has learned all the ropes already, but someone who’s willing to listen to the people and get them involved in moving our nation forward.

This country has lots of problems and doable programs are very very important.
But as you shared, what is also very crucial is that we don’t need a messiah, what this country needs is a leader who will make the Filipinos recognize that all of us are the ones who need to work for this country to move forward.
Unfortunately, I can see many presidentiables who are promising everything and solve everything: dole-out politics.

I’m looking for a candidate who has the ability to unite this highly fractious country, has vision and inner strength and imagination to lead us forward. Do we have that? Dunno yet.

Waaah, natatawa ako sa picture. Who is Marikenya, pahiram sana ng pic.
As with the Presidentiables, when I’m watching their debates, I’m impressed with Gibo, pero dahil sya ay manok ni GMA, eh wag na lang.
Ang kailangan natin ay yung hindi mangugurakot.

Elmot, I’m sorry that I can’t give any political views on the subject because I really have no idea. ^^ What drives me in this post is this picture, I can’t help but wondering why is this image so familiar. Then it hits me… is it a famous Korean Drama? lol..

What are the qualities of a presidential candidate that would make me vote? One who don’t need a public office to embark on public service for the indigents. Because I subscribe to the belief that to test one’s character give him time. Why? Because one can just do good because he has the public image to protect. How about those who loses in the elections? Those who were denied the public office?
I will give my vote to anyone who are able to continue to walk the talk he made even after the political terms. This is actually a challenge to Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, if she really is bent on doing public service minus a public term, will she continue? I bet no!
