By now, many of us have already seen Noynoy Aquino’s political advertisement that has been running on TV stations trying to rival the political ads of his fellow presidentiables.
But what makes Noynoy Aquino’s political ad stand out among its competitors is that this guy who is rallying on a new dawn of politics in a country mired by decades of traditional politicians and dynamics is using the very traditional way of campaign on broadcast media.
With Regine Velasquez singing “Hindi Ka Nag-iisa” (lyrics here) as Noynoy Aquino’s campaign theme song, throngs of celebrities flocked his ad on yellow shirts carrying with them torches in a dramatic fashion.
Like a legendary messiah trying to bring a nation into the Promise Land, the climactic effects of his political advertisement is much measured though by the over-saturated emphasis of TV personalities and celebrities rallying behind him, if not becoming the real faces of the advertisement exposing its lack of depth in terms of what he really intends to do to the nation.
The vagueness, over-saturation of celebrities and mystified approach of Noynoy’s political ad brings me think of two things:
1. I thought there is already perpetual peace between the two giant media outfit; that the ad is actually a station ID of both GMA and ABS-CBN made manifest by the big stars from both networks rallying on the ads with more exposure than that of the one who is running for the presidency.
2. I am highly expecting that this is the first and the last kind of political ad by Noynoy Aquino that uses this type of strategy with telenovela effect and mystification trying to rival the creation of Tolkien of the Lord of the Rings, or to that effect. Hopefully after this ad, a real political ad will be shown outlining straightforward political reforms, programs and policies that he will advocate and implement once elected into the highest office.

So what is your opinion of Noynoy Aquino’s political ad? Any thoughts?

All i can say is ” Ang ganda ng video, ANG PANGIT NG LYRICS!!” hahahahaha(parang survivor ung theme).seriously, whenever i hear this commercial i would always burst into laughter . wala pang specific goals for governance ung commercial nya. this commercial says ” IBOTO MO AKO KASI NANAY KO SI NINOY AT CORY TSKA IBOTO MO AKO KASI DAMING ARTISTA ”
My opinion is like any politician (in most cases) they like exploiting the “un educated”,that’s why they don’t focus on good education here in the Philippines ” more squatters more VOTES, YAHOO!!!!”
i always hate people who blames the government for their misfortunes, WE MAKE OUR FUTURE!(OWNERSHIP). A government is a reflection of our culture! that’s why there’s an election cause the government is the sum of the voters personality. ^_^

Exactly Bro! All drama and suspense and cinematic effects on the political ad. No programs, agenda or policies.
Political ads in the first place should engage viewers in tackling vital issues and not glued on voting the candidate just because of the emotional theme it instigates on viewers.

I think media play vital role for advertising in political events. Many candidates take lot of advantage of it.

Media is one of the most important tool a political candidate could use to fuel his campaign. And that also entails lots of money on his part to have a successful media blitz and hopefully be translated into votes.

So I gather that if he is elected, he will be replacing electricity with torches:) Kidding. BTW, I really like the music, pity I can not understand all of it. Hindi Ka Nag-IIsa, means, You’re Not Alone, right? My tagalog is really rusty, but you’re right, next ad should be more political in nature (political reforms, programs and policies), rather than running for the “Oscars”, or is he hinting that if elected the next Olympic Games will be in the Philppines, haha

I was thinking of that too! The Oscars! Best foreign political ad! LOL!

I find the concept tacky, too formulaic. Maybe it’s good enough for hyping up a new network show or telenovela, but for someone aspiring for the highest position in the country? Nah. Of course, I understand the importance of tying his campaign with the successful Hindi Ka Nag-iisa battle cry of his parents in bringing back democracy to our country. It worked before. And it can work again.
Just wishing the approach is more edgy, compelling and original than that.

And I am now thinking that this is the start of Noynoy evolving into a traditional politician? I hope not.
Going back to the ad…exactly bro! Too traditional and full of melodrama that indeed will rival all the telenovelas shown on primetime.
I am looking for a more straight-forward ad showing vital issues and directions and policies and goals and not not like this one cloaking a political campaign out of the faces of celebrities and renown parents.

It overflows with elitist politics = traditional politics.
It’s all glitz, glamor and star power who live in a world of their own detached from the lives of the masses.
Where’s the substance? Where’s the platform? Where’s the vision for our country? Sending us back to the Cory Aquino (with all due respect) years when power block outs were still a common thing?
Though I laughed at the image of Mega Star Sharon Cuneta being reduced to a lamp bearer while Regine belts the song out with signature ear-popping vocals.

I think this ad made a bad move for Noynoy’s campaign…that if ever he wins, the Palace will become the house of elitist enterprise and the glitz and glamor of celebrities. And that Noynoy cannot stand indeed on his own feet to drive his candidacy into victory.
He is relying on the invocation of his parents’ legacy and that of so many actors and actresses. Elitist indeed and no substance.
But let us wait for his upcoming ads. Unless that is all that he has. WTF!

Noynoy Aquino is a very influential person in both showbiz and political world, and that’s because he’s part of a famous family. I agree with you, I am also expecting that, if ever Noynoy will be having another TV ad, I want to see/hear his plans on our country, political reforms and other good stuffs. C’mon Noynoy, don’t disappoint us.

Well, I don’t know if it really projects unity to some viewers (as it is being depicted by title “Hindi Ka Nag-Iisa” by reuniting GMA Kapuso and ABS-CBN Kapamilya stars.
It is worthy to note though that the the ad was made possible by set of real names and not just friends of Noynoy just like what other political ad contains.

That is one good note too. Coz having all those names lined up supporting Noynoy is extra pogi points for him too I guess. Having all these big celebrities names lined up and rolling pledging their support on your candidacy is extra push for your campaign rather than saying that the ad was made possible by some friends.

noynoy’s ad is just like any other political add. the difference? more celebrities endorsing and performing for him. no agenda, no platforms, no plans, no programs. hopefully he does better next time. a big pressure being an Aquino but then again, Kris has so far been the Aquino’s image for the masses. i really hope if he wins, he can make a change to the political atmosphere in the country but observing the months that passed he is slowly building up “i owe you”s from different political personalities. when he wins, madaming babayarang utang na loob.

Hi Lemuel!
Man, and Noynoy is actually talking to so many people: Erap, Danding and all traditional politicians around the town…as if he does not trust the people to deliver for him that he needs to bring back the bold boys club to the fray of his political machinery.
